Why this pick
A monochrome vampire fable with deadpan cool, nocturnal music, and a tenderly offbeat romance; it shares Jarmusch’s love of languid mood over conventional horror momentum.
Why this pick
Its elegant immortal lovers, decadent interiors, and mounting melancholy make this a more sensual, stylised companion to Adam and Eve’s long, weary devotion.
Why this pick
A soulful vampire drama focused on the burden of endless life, intimate female bonds, and a bruised romantic atmosphere rather than action-driven mythology.
Why this pick
For the same hypnotic Jarmusch cadence: a nocturnal, cosmopolitan drift through carefully composed spaces, ritualistic encounters, music, and enigmatic cool.
Why this pick
David Bowie’s otherworldly outsider moves through a fragmented, beautiful, alienated Earth—an excellent fit for the melancholic immortality and rock-star aura of Only Lovers Left Alive.

01 / THE STORY
Married for centuries and now living half a world apart, two vampires wake as the sun goes down. Adam sits holding a lute, in his cluttered Detroit Victorian house, as Eve wakes up in her bedroom in Tangier, surrounded by books. Rather than feeding on humans directly, they are dependent on local suppliers of the "good stuff", for fear of blood contaminated by the 21st century environment. Adam, still a famous musician, also fears exposure, visiting a local blood bank in the dead of night in disguise as "Faust", bribing "Dr. Watson" for his coveted O negative. Eve relies on their old friend, the author Christopher Marlowe, who faked his death in 1593 and now lives under the protection of a protégé.
