Why this pick
A seemingly ordinary man is swept into an absurdly precise web of misunderstandings, delivering the same pleasure of escalating farce and impeccably timed reactions.
Why this pick
This is another delirious ensemble farce: doors, secrets, frantic entrances, and expertly sustained comic momentum make its artificial setting a feature rather than a flaw.
Why this pick
For Noises Off...'s appetite for broad performance and accelerating ridiculousness, this deadpan, deliberately heightened comedy keeps topping its own absurd premise.
Why this pick
Built around a classic farce engine of mistaken identity, concealed information, and breathless reversals, it has the same joyous sense of actors barely containing a collapsing scheme.

01 / THE STORY
The film follows the rehearsal and performance of a dreadful farce called ''Nothing On'', a hit British show that is preparing for its American debut in Des Moines, Iowa, with a second-rate, Broadway theatre-bound theatrical troupe under the direction of Lloyd Fellowes (originally named Lloyd Dallas in the play and portrayed by Caine). Among the cast members are fading star Dotty Otley (Burnett), hot-tempered and scatter-brained Garry Lejeune (Ritter), insecure matinee heartthrob Frederick Dallas (originally named Frederick Fellowes in the play and portrayed by Reeve), myopia leading lady Brooke Ashton (Sheridan), bubbly Belinda Blair (Henner), and alcoholic character actor Selsdon Mowbray (Elliott). Frantically working behind the scenes are Tim Allgood (Linn-Baker) and Poppy Taylor (Hagerty).
