SIMILAR PICKS / A PERSONAL CONNECTION
01
Why this pick
A deceptively casual, Chicago-set portrait of an unreliable young woman disrupting a settled household; its naturalistic performances and compassionate messiness closely fit Laggies’ indie sensibility.
02
Why this pick
It shares Laggies’ fascination with arrested adulthood and hometown gravity, but with a more acidic edge: a flawed woman confronts the gap between the life she imagined and the one she has.
03
Why this pick
Fast, funny, and affectionate about glamorous self-invention and youthful drift, it carries the same appeal of watching imperfect women improvise their way through uncertainty.
04
Why this pick
Its offbeat humor masks real emotional vulnerability as two stalled siblings reconnect. The film has Laggies’ humane, unflashy approach to adults trying to restart their lives.
05
Why this pick
A candid, buoyant indie comedy led by a messy but deeply likable woman, balancing frank life complications with the same conversational warmth and emotional honesty as Laggies.
