Why this pick
Roeg’s fractured editing, sensual visual texture, and ominous Venice atmosphere create the same disorienting fusion of grief, desire, and mounting dread.
Why this pick
Its corrosive sexual power games and increasingly uncomfortable recollection of a relationship echo Bad Timing’s fascination with obsession and damaged intimacy.
Why this pick
A psychologically evasive romance becomes a dreamy investigation of desire and absence, with the cool urban alienation and unresolved pull that suit Bad Timing.

01 / THE STORY
In Cold War Vienna, Milena (Theresa Russell), a young American woman in her twenties, is rushed to the emergency room after apparently overdosing. With her is Alex Linden (Art Garfunkel), an American psychiatrist who lives in the city as a teacher. Through myriad fragmented Flashback (literary technique), the narrative depicts the story of their romance, which ultimately amounts to an unhealthy obsession on the part of Alex.
