Why this pick
Like Alligator, it turns a familiar creature feature into a cheeky, low-budget B-movie ride, mixing regional American settings, gory shocks, and sly humor.
Why this pick
Its blue-collar small-town setting and practical monster suspense echo Alligator’s unpretentious, grimy creature-feature pleasures.
Why this pick
A giant monster loose in New York meets sardonic urban satire and scrappy exploitation energy, closely matching Alligator’s city-creature chaos.
Why this pick
This outsized-animal thriller similarly treats its beast seriously enough for tension while delivering vivid, pulpy set pieces and an enjoyably excessive premise.
Why this pick
A river monster, institutional negligence, family panic, and darkly comic social observation give it a sharper but kindred version of Alligator’s creature-feature sensibility.
