SIMILAR PICKS / A PERSONAL CONNECTION
01
Why this pick
Shares the gleefully ramshackle 1980s sci-fi-comedy energy, rock-adjacent attitude, absurd alien threat, and a sincere commitment to its own wonderfully strange universe.
02
Why this pick
A wildly stylized rock musical with futuristic costumes, unapologetic camp, and surreal musical spectacle—ideal for the same taste for flamboyant, offbeat cult excess.
03
Why this pick
Colorful alien visitors, pop-musical momentum, and playful fish-out-of-water comedy give it a similarly bright, knowingly silly collision of sci-fi and music-video fantasy.
04
Why this pick
Its punk soundtrack, deadpan suburban weirdness, eccentric characters, and UFO-driven plot make a sharper, scruffier companion to Rock Aliens’ cosmic rock-and-roll mischief.
05
Why this pick
Another cheerfully odd low-budget space curio, combining extraterrestrial visitors, conspicuous camp, and a pop-cultural sensibility that prizes imaginative spectacle over realism.

A guitar-shaped spaceship and Robot 1359 (voiced by Peter Cullen), search the universe for the source of rock and roll music. He finds it on Earth. 1359 wakes the crew to visit the planet. A rocket telephone booth lands in the town of Speelburgh and ABCD (pronounced "Absid") (Tom Nolan (actor)) with his group of aliens exit. The humanoid aliens force robot 1359 to take the form of a fire hydrant. Only the Sheriff (Ruth Gordon) witnesses their landing, and she becomes obsessed with alien invaders.
