Why this pick
Like The Wedding Plan, it finds romantic uncertainty within an Orthodox Jewish community, using patient observation, wry tenderness, and a woman’s quietly determined inner life rather than broad comedy.
Why this pick
A spiritually searching young woman confronts faith, obligation, and desire in contemporary religious Jerusalem; its intimate female perspective and gently humorous humanity echo The Wedding Plan.
Why this pick
This Israeli charmer shares the warmth and offbeat optimism of The Wedding Plan, centering people who resist others’ expectations and build confidence through an unlikely community.
Why this pick
For the contrast between religious rules and unruly romantic longing, this period comedy offers a much more irreverent but similarly playful view of faith, desire, and marriage-minded chaos.
Why this pick
Its intelligent heroine is pushed toward matchmaking while pursuing her own idea of love. The film matches The Wedding Plan’s romantic warmth, community texture, and affection for imperfect choices.

01 / THE STORY
32-year-old Michael became religious 12 years ago and is only now getting married. A month before the wedding, while checking out the catering for the event, the groom has a change of heart and the wedding is called off. Michal feels she’s unable to go back to ordinary life, to the usual course of matchmaking. She feels this is the moment to change something very basic in her personality. A simple belief that God is good and sweet; that He wants to give and is only waiting for her to wish it. Michal goes on a month-long journey lasting up to the planned wedding day — she has the venue, the dress, and the apartment… surely God can come up with the groom.
