Why this pick
Like The Visitor, it plays occult science fiction at operatic volume: psychic forces, extraterrestrial mythology, and an utterly straight-faced collision of cosmic evil with 1970s genre excess.
Why this pick
Its clairvoyant heroine, ominous visions, ornate interiors, and deliberately unreal atmosphere match The Visitor’s blend of psychic dread and flamboyant Italian genre craft.
Why this pick
A New York horror nightmare built from religious apocalypse, sinister elders, and escalating surreal imagery; it shares The Visitor’s grave, bizarrely maximalist supernatural mood.
Why this pick
This has the same unfettered 1970s occult-horror energy: an ancient evil, solemn cosmic stakes, celebrity-studded weirdness, and a willingness to push its imagery into delirium.
Why this pick
A fierce psychic protagonist appears tied to catastrophic events in this brisk, bleak supernatural thriller, echoing The Visitor’s fascination with destructive mental power.

01 / THE STORY
In an enigmatic, alien landscape, Jerzy Colsowicz (John Huston) experiences a vision of a powerful and destructive storm brought about a young human girl. His colleague, an enigmatic Christ-like figure (Franco Nero), tells his bald pupils about the centuries-long cosmic conflict between Zatteen, an evil inter-spatial force of immense magnitude with powerful psychic abilities, and his benevolent arch-rival Yahweh. Zatteen escaped to the planet Earth centuries ago, and though he was eventually tracked down and killed by Yahweh, his spirit lives on in the minds of Human, waiting for an opportunity to reemerge and wreak havoc. The figure tells his disciples that before his death, Zatteen had produced dozens of children with human women, and these descendants continue to populate the Earth.
