Why this pick
Like The Taste of Things, it lets mature affection emerge through small gestures, pauses, and shared rituals, with a sensuous French visual style and patient attention to emotional hesitation.
Why this pick
Trần Anh Hùng’s earlier film shares the same exquisite attention to food, touch, sound, and domestic space, finding profound feeling in quiet observation rather than overt drama.
Why this pick
Its climactic meal treats cooking as an act of love, generosity, and artistic expression, delivered with the same unhurried reverence for craft and emotional restraint.
Why this pick
A tender, delicately paced romance in which prepared food becomes a private language, balancing longing, routine, and the possibility of a life changed by intimate attention.
Why this pick
For the gastronomic atmosphere and refined French milieu, this offers a darker, more psychologically charged portrait of devotion and appetite; its relationship is far less gentle than The Taste of Things.
