Why this pick
Peter Sellers returns as the magnificently inept Inspector Clouseau, with a more tightly constructed farce, elegant settings, romantic misdirection, and escalating physical-comedy chaos.
Why this pick
This reunion restores the original’s glamorous European travelogue feel, jewel-thief intrigue, dry wit, and Sellers’s exquisitely timed Clouseau disasters.
Why this pick
Another Blake Edwards–Peter Sellers collaboration, built around refined surfaces steadily demolished by patient, nearly wordless comic escalation and social embarrassment.
Why this pick
A stylish, sunlit European caper with luxury, international scheming, playful criminals, and a buoyant comic touch rather than hard-edged suspense.
Why this pick
Its Parisian polish, charismatic stars, shifting identities, and light-footed blend of romance, danger, and humor make it a close tonal companion.

01 / THE STORY
As a child in Lugash, Princess Dala receives a gift from her father, the Maharajah: the "Pink Panther", the largest diamond in the world. This huge Pink diamond has an unusual flaw: looking deeply into the stone, one perceives a tiny discoloration resembling a leaping panther. Twenty years later, Dala has been forced into exile following her father's death and the subsequent military takeover of her country. The new government declares her precious diamond the property of the people and petitions the World Court to determine ownership. However, Dala refuses to relinquish it.
