Why this pick
Its exquisitely choreographed visual gags and near-wordless social confusion create the same pleasure as Hrundi’s accidental havoc, with an even grander, more meticulously designed party finale.
Why this pick
Like The Party, it centers on an innocent outsider drifting through elite gatherings while polite society projects meaning onto his every baffling gesture; the comedy is gentler and more deadpan.
Why this pick
A polished, fast-moving screwball farce in which a formal setting steadily collapses into cascading misunderstandings, physical comedy, and expertly timed destruction.
Why this pick
This tightly contained French farce similarly turns a smug social occasion upside down through one well-meaning but uncontrollable guest, escalating with crisp comic precision.
Why this pick
For the satirical side of The Party: elegant bourgeois rituals are repeatedly derailed, though Buñuel replaces broad slapstick with dry surrealism and quietly barbed social observation.

01 / THE STORY
A film crew is making a ''Gunga Din (film)''-style costume epic. Unknown Indian actor Hrundi V. Bakshi plays a bugler, but continues to play after repeatedly being shot and after the director yells "cut." Bakshi accidentally blows up an enormous fort Set construction rigged with explosives. The director fires Bakshi immediately and calls the studio head, General Fred R. Clutterbuck. Clutterbuck writes down Bakshi's name to blacklist him, but he inadvertently writes it on the guest list of his upcoming dinner party.
