Men in Black poster 04

Movie / 1997 / Action / Adventure / Comedy / Science Fiction

Men in Black

Why this pick

Its cool, comic vision of an enormous universe hiding behind everyday life echoes Hitchhiker’s mix of deadpan bureaucracy, oddball aliens, swift momentum, and fish-out-of-water discovery.

For the stranger, more melancholic side of Hitchhiker’s cosmic perspective: an alien outsider meets baffling Earth customs in a visually daring, fragmented and darkly ironic sci-fi fable.

A little about the film.

The film begins with a Broadway-style number, "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish", sung by the dolphins of the world, who are aware of the Earth's impending doom. At the end, they all jump out of the oceans and fly off into space, leaving Earth forever.
