Why this pick
Like The Hit, it gives British crime a bruised, adult gravity, driven by sharply observed power games, terse dialogue, and a mounting sense that old loyalties cannot hold.
Why this pick
Its cool, sunlit European surfaces and unlikely criminal partnership echo The Hit’s existential road-movie tension, letting moral unease and character friction matter as much as the mechanics of danger.
Why this pick
A controlled, dryly cynical British neo-noir whose detached protagonist and precise visual restraint create the same sense of criminal fate quietly closing in.
Why this pick
This is similarly patient and unsentimental about professional criminals: tense conversations, compromised men, and a fatalistic mood take precedence over action spectacle.
Why this pick
Its lean cat-and-mouse plotting, resourceful antihero, and dry criminal-world humour make it a strong fit for The Hit’s blend of danger, irony, and shifting leverage.

01 / THE STORY
Gangs in the United Kingdom Willie Parker (Terence Stamp) gives evidence against his criminal compatriots in return for a very generous offer from the police. Ten years later, Parker lives in comfortable retirement in Spain until four Spanish youths kidnap him and deliver him to two hit men hired by the kingpin that Parker helped put away. In the course of the kidnapping they also murder a Spanish policeman who has been assigned to guard Parker. At least three of the youths are then killed by a bomb in a briefcase handed to them by Braddock, the older of the hit men (John Hurt), pretending that it contains their payoff money.
