Why this pick
Kaufman’s later Troma eruption retains Terror Firmer’s deliberately tasteless splatter, frantic ensemble chaos, musical absurdity, and gleeful contempt for polished genre decorum.
Why this pick
Its fake-franchise premise, bargain-bin slasher texture, outrageous jokes, and knowingly ridiculous body count make it an excellent fit for Terror Firmer’s DIY meta-horror spirit.
Why this pick
A more polished but affectionate slasher send-up, built around genre self-awareness, escalating set pieces, and an unexpectedly warm group dynamic beneath the bloodshed.
Why this pick
A scrappy Halloween nightmare of incompetent artists, homemade costumes, messy violence, and pitch-black comic escalation—less cartoonish, but similarly committed to low-budget mayhem.
Why this pick
Its affectionate look at a struggling low-budget horror production delivers escalating chaos, handmade ingenuity, and a deeply entertaining appreciation of filmmaking under impossible conditions.

01 / THE STORY
The film is the story of a New York low-budget film crew, led by their insane and egotistical blindness film director, Larry Benjamin, who is trying to create a work of art. In addition to the typical trials and travails of a Troma set, the crew is preyed upon by a sexually conflicted, bomb-toting serial killer. Among the large poorly paid film crew, the movie centers mostly on production assistant Jennifer, who struggles to do her job while deciding between the two men in her life; the strait-laced boom operator Casey, and the rebellious special effects operator Jerry. The love triangle intensifies as the dead bodies mount with increasingly brutality. At the climax, the entire film crew bands together (both physically and sexually) against the mortal threat in their midst.
