Why this pick
Pairs small-town alien chaos with scrappy creature effects and jokey genre energy; it is a little spikier than Spaced Invaders but shares its playful low-budget sci-fi texture.
Why this pick
Its silly fish-out-of-water aliens, bright artificial design, and cheerful 1980s pop-comedy tone make it a natural companion for Spaced Invaders' affectionate extraterrestrial absurdity.
Why this pick
A knowingly goofy cult sci-fi comedy full of oddball invaders, deadpan jokes, and pulpy invention—well suited to the deliberately cartoonish space-opera parody of Spaced Invaders.
Why this pick
This gentle family sci-fi comedy similarly finds humor in a stranded extraterrestrial encountering ordinary Earth life, with a light, old-fashioned Disney adventure feel.
Why this pick
A kid-centered, effects-driven encounter with eccentric aliens that mixes suburban adventure, movie references, and an exuberant handmade sci-fi imagination.

01 / THE STORY
The space armada from Mars, known as the Imperial Atomic Space Navy (Battle Group Seven), fights an interstellar war against their long-time enemy, the Arcturans. The armada is forced into battle by Enforcer Droids, tasked to keep the Martian soldiers in line, despite objections by some that it won't work. Meanwhile, an incompetent crew of a small Martian spaceship, from the Civilian Asteroid Patrol, intercept a distress signal from the fleet, followed by a Halloween rebroadcast of Orson Welles' 1938 The War of the Worlds (radio) radio dramatization.
