Why this pick
Another Ralph Thomas Bulldog Drummond outing, with Richard Johnson’s dry, unflappable agent navigating glamorous locations, stylish female assassins, and knowingly playful Bond-style espionage.
Why this pick
A colourful, comic British spy caper built around an ill-suited operative, extravagant gadgets, international travel, and a breezy sixties pop-art sensibility.
Why this pick
Its sleek futurist design, deadpan humour, fashionable danger, and seductive cat-and-mouse action share the heightened, lounge-cool European spy mood of Some Girls Do.
Why this pick
For the pleasure of glamorous people, sunlit luxury, and suspicious deaths: this is a polished, witty mystery whose clues and shifting alliances reward playful attention.
Why this pick
A deliberately flamboyant sixties espionage fantasy, full of colour, couture, globe-trotting villains, and comic-book mischief rather than hard-edged spy realism.
