Why this pick
A gleefully stylised European pop-crime caper, pairing comic-book design, playful sexual chemistry and audacious heists with the same knowingly unreal, swinging-sixties spirit.
Why this pick
Like Modesty Blaise, it turns Monica Vitti into a cool, fashion-forward force amid colourful pop-art production design, deadpan humour and a deliberately artificial thriller world.
Why this pick
A brisk, candy-coloured spy spoof whose impossible gadgets, flamboyant villains and relaxed irreverence make it an excellent companion to Losey’s anti-Bond extravaganza.
Why this pick
This lavishly designed British espionage satire shares the period’s playful contempt for straight-faced spy conventions, favouring glamour, eccentric danger and visual wit.
Why this pick
A lesser-known Vitti-led psychedelic thriller with bold late-sixties styling, shifting identities and conspiratorial menace; it preserves her poised screen presence while leaning darker than Modesty Blaise.
