Why this pick
Like Orca, it turns an ocean setting into a stark survival arena, using isolation, animal menace and relentless escalation rather than complicated plotting.
Why this pick
Its maritime suspense, blue-collar seafaring characters and conflict between human livelihood and a formidable predator closely suit Orca’s elemental adventure-horror pull.
Why this pick
A stripped-back, unnervingly plausible ocean survival thriller that shares Orca’s cold sense of vulnerability when humans enter a predator’s territory.
Why this pick
For Orca’s unsettling animal-revenge energy and wild, slightly uncanny 1970s adventure-horror texture, this offers an unusually raw confrontation between people and dangerous wildlife.
Why this pick
It carries a similarly direct creature-feature drive, balancing violent animal menace with a serious streak about human exploitation and its consequences.
