Why this pick
Rohmer again turns a summer encounter into a precise, playful moral inquiry, with talk, self-justification, and small gestures carrying the romantic tension.
Why this pick
Its quietly suspenseful drama comes from a respectable man's thoughts and conversations as temptation tests the principles he thinks define him.
Why this pick
A chance meeting opens into elegant, dialogue-led romantic uncertainty, balancing intellectual sparring with the delicate mystery of what people truly want.
Why this pick
More emotionally exposed but similarly attentive to chance and conviction, it follows an isolated protagonist searching for connection through unforced encounters and observation.
Why this pick
For the candid, prolonged conversations and unstable romantic ethics: a sharply observed Paris relationship drama, far rawer and more confrontational than Rohmer.
