Two Mormon missionaries form a connection that clashes with the identity prescribed for them. It closely echoes Latter Days’ collision of belief, desire and conscience, but approaches it in a quieter, more introspective register.

A delicately observed coming-of-age romance with a strong sense of longing and vulnerability. Its dreamy visual style and intimate focus on a boy making room for his desires suit the emotional side of Latter Days.
Why this pick
This slow-burning Argentine drama turns shared history and tentative attraction into sustained emotional tension. It is more restrained than Latter Days, but similarly attentive to class, masculinity and the risks involved in being seen.
