Why this pick
A gentle European coming-of-age story with the same close attention to a teenage boy's emerging desire, hesitant connection, and quietly luminous everyday surroundings.
Why this pick
Its rural setting, first-love intensity, and dreamy, vulnerable perspective echo North Sea Texas’s blend of adolescent longing and unease beneath ordinary life.
Why this pick
It shares Pim’s inward, romantic viewpoint and patient emotional observation, centering on a young person discovering independence and affection without melodrama.
Why this pick
For the film’s compassionate attention to loneliness and yearning: this is a more adult, harsher companion, but equally intimate about seeking tenderness in unsafe places.

Meanwhile, Yvette begins spending time with a man named Etienne, who is brutish and macho, and whom Pim immediately despises.
