Why this pick
Like Honey, it builds profound emotion through sparse dialogue, elemental sound, ritualistic daily life and a child’s perspective within a family facing an implacable rural hardship.
Why this pick
A quiet, visually delicate child’s-eye drama where landscape, silence and imagination carry more weight than explanation, echoing Honey’s intimate attention to a young boy’s inner world.
Why this pick
Its beekeeping family, tactile countryside and unhurried observation create a similarly immersive natural world, while the children absorb adult precarity through glances, work and ambient detail.
Why this pick
This shares Honey’s austere rural setting and a child’s family destabilized by a missing parent, though its search is more plot-driven and its atmosphere more tense.
Why this pick
For Honey’s poetic natural imagery and emotional restraint, this offers an equally sensory, memory-like experience in which wind, rain, woods and childhood perception shape the drama.

01 / THE STORY
In the remote and undeveloped eastern Black Sea Region, a six-year-old boy (Yusuf) wanders through the woods searching for his lost father, trying to make sense of his life. His father is a beekeeper whose bees have disappeared unexpectedly, threatening his livelihood. A bizarre accident kills the father.. There is little dialogue or music in the film. The three main characters (Yusuf and his parents) are all fairly taciturn, and the soundtrack is filled out with the sounds of the forest and the creatures that live there.
