Why this pick
Hitchcock’s most austere take on innocent-man paranoia: procedural detail, mounting circumstantial pressure, and a protagonist trapped by an indifferent system echo Frenzy’s bleakest tension.
Why this pick
Its wrongly accused fugitive and brisk pursuit structure anticipate Frenzy, while retaining Hitchcock’s talent for turning ordinary encounters into tightly controlled suspense.
Why this pick
A disquieting London serial-killer film with an unusually intimate view of its predator, balancing everyday city textures against escalating unease and moral discomfort.
Why this pick
This stark British true-crime drama shares Frenzy’s grim urban atmosphere, chillingly mundane villainy, and painful sense of an innocent person being failed by the evidence around him.
Why this pick
For Frenzy’s harsh, morally contaminated mood: a terse British crime drama where the hunt for a sexual predator becomes an oppressive psychological battle.

01 / THE STORY
Set in the early 1970s, the plot centres on a serial killer terrorizing London by raping and then strangling women with a tie. Bob Rusk (Barry Foster (actor)), a Covent Garden wholesale produce merchant, is the murderer. However, circumstantial evidence, partially engineered by Rusk, will implicate Rusk's friend Richard Blaney (Jon Finch), who becomes a fugitive attempting to prove his innocence.
