Why this pick
Like A Chorus Line, it turns the backstage musical world into an intense character study, driven by rehearsal-room pressure, dazzling choreography, and a restless, self-questioning theatrical energy.
Why this pick
Its young performers face auditions, training, rivalry, and vulnerability with the same ensemble focus and hard-earned show-business ambition that animate A Chorus Line.
Why this pick
A poised backstage drama about dance, sacrifice, and unresolved history, with emotionally charged rehearsal scenes and the ache of careers shaped by difficult choices.
Why this pick
It shares the audition-driven momentum and behind-the-curtain perspective, balancing competitive dance training with performers’ individual fears, ambitions, and breakthroughs.
Why this pick
For the lived-in, process-oriented pleasure of watching dancers work: rehearsal, discipline, ensemble bonds, and performance are observed with unusual intimacy rather than melodramatic gloss.

01 / THE STORY
A group of dancers congregate on the stage of a Broadway theatre theatre (structure) to audition for a new musical theatre production directed by Zach. After the initial eliminations, sixteen hopefuls remain. Arriving late is former lead dancer Cassie who once had a tempestuous romantic relationship with Zach but left him to take a job in Hollywood. Now she hasn't worked in over a year, and is desperate enough for work to even just be part of the chorus line. Whether he's willing to let professionalism overcome his personal feelings about their past remains to be seen.
