The Spine of Night
Why this pick
A fiercely adult animated fantasy with painterly rotoscoping, vicious sorcery, and a doom-laden mythic history—close to Wizards’ uncompromising, hallucinatory energy.

Fire and Ice
Why this pick
Bakshi’s later fantasy is more straightforward than Wizards, but its lush rotoscoped bodies, savage landscapes, and pulpy dark-age atmosphere make it a natural companion.

Son of the White Mare
Why this pick
Its blazing psychedelic colour, cosmic folklore, and boldly abstract animation share Wizards’ sense of an ancient myth being broadcast from a stranger, harsher world.
