Why this pick
Like The Vindicator, it turns a murdered man into corporate property and channels its revenge through violent cybernetic transformation, with a sharper satirical edge and similarly grimy futuristic action.
Why this pick
This fast, neon-lit sci-fi thriller shares the era's pulpy blend of technological menace, explosive action, and a protagonist whose dangerous behavior is not entirely under his control.
Why this pick
Another 1986 story of experimental technology overriding human limits, it pairs mad-science dread with an unstable artificial consciousness and a distinctly strange, emotionally charged B-movie mood.
Why this pick
Its oppressive industrial future, rogue military machine, and body-level fear make it a strong fit for The Vindicator's low-budget cybernetic horror texture and violent corporate-tech paranoia.
Why this pick
For the same enjoyably outrageous collision of action and sci-fi horror: a near-future social experiment deploys programmed violence, then finds its mechanisms impossible to contain.

01 / THE STORY
Carl Lehman (David McIlwraith) is a scientist working on a next-generation space suit for the ARC corporation, run by the sinister Alex Whyte (Richard Cox (actor)), where all kinds of high-tech research is being conducted. One of these projects is developing "rage program" software that can sense when a user is provoked/endangered and take over its brain to destroy the attacker and then return to normal once the threat has been eliminated. The software is shown to be tested on monkeys, one of which dies after Whyte, out of curiosity, has the rage factor turned up beyond safe levels.
