Its isolated undersea installation, blue-collar crew and steadily worsening creature threat share The Rift’s claustrophobic, practical-effects-driven survival-horror energy.
Why this pick
An Arctic vessel becomes a contained siege against grotesque organisms; it strongly matches The Rift’s old-school creature design, confined setting and scientific menace.
Why this pick
A remote research outpost, an unknown predatory organism and a small crew trapped with it deliver the same lean, grimy creature-feature tension as The Rift.
Why this pick
This compact post-apocalyptic chiller shares The Rift’s mix of dubious experimentation, an enclosed bunker-like environment and tactile mutant horror.

01 / THE STORY
An experimental submarine, the "Siren II", with an experienced crew is sent to find out what happened to the missing "Siren I". They trace the Siren I's black box to an underwater rift; as they move in to retrieve it they encounter a dangerous seaweed-like fungus. Later they surface in a cave system where they discover that the company they are working for has been engaged in illegal genetic engineering experiments that have produced a variety of mutant creatures.
