Why this pick
This intimate Tour de France documentary turns its attention to domestiques, sharing The Racer’s affection for cycling’s overlooked workers and the endurance behind the spectacle.
Why this pick
Another cycling drama with an offbeat, humane focus: its athlete’s drive is balanced by vulnerability, personal strain, and a gently eccentric sense of humour.
Why this pick
Its cycling world is rooted in local character and class tension rather than triumph alone, with warmth and humour surrounding a protagonist searching for a life beyond his role.
Why this pick
For the more disillusioned side of The Racer, this is a tense, unsentimental look at cycling’s professional machinery and the moral costs concealed by competition.
Why this pick
A warmly observed sports drama that finds its strongest moments in the pressures around an athlete—the family, identity, and persistence that shape life beyond the race.

01 / THE STORY
Summer 1998 - the opening stages of Le Tour de France are relocated to Ireland. Belgian rider Dom Chabol has been one of the best "Domestiques" on the Tour for the last 20 years. At the start of what will likely be his last Tour, Dom is unceremoniously dropped from the Team he has dedicated his life to. But a chance liaison with Lynn, a young Irish doctor, softens the blow, and Dom starts to accept - and even enjoy - the idea of civilian life. But as he gears up to go home and to face his estranged sister, a massive doping error knocks another teammate off the Tour and Dom is thrown back in the saddle.
