Why this pick
Its isolated small-town celebration, anonymous work-clad killer and steady body-count suspense closely match The Prowler’s grim, blue-collar slasher atmosphere.
Why this pick
A revenge-fuelled campus-nightmare with stalking, darkly polished visuals and a tightly contained group of imperilled young people—very much in The Prowler’s early-’80s mode.
Why this pick
For another period-tinged slasher built around an embittered figure from the past, practical gore, nocturnal stalking and a remote setting that offers little escape.
Why this pick
Its wintry mansion setting and deliberately stylised stalking scenes retain the masked-killer tension of The Prowler while adding a more elegant, giallo-like visual texture.
Why this pick
A rite-of-passage party becomes an enclosed overnight siege, delivering the same patient buildup, isolated location and tactile practical-effects slasher appeal.

During World War II, a woman named Rosemary Chatham writes a Dear John letter to her boyfriend, breaking up with him because he has been away too long. On June 28, 1945, Rosemary is attending a graduation dance in the town of Avalon, California with her new boyfriend Roy, who suggests they go out to the point in order to make out. While there, they are attacked by a mysterious prowler in an army combat uniform, who impales them both with a pitchfork, leaving behind a rose.
