Red Rock West poster 01

Movie / 1993 / Crime / Drama / Thriller

Red Rock West

Why this pick

John Dahl brings the same sun-baked neo-noir tension, cynical humour, and escalating deception, with ordinary people pulled into a dangerously unstable web of money and manipulation.

The Grifters poster 02

Movie / 1990 / Crime / Drama

The Grifters

Why this pick

Its sharp, unsentimental con artists and constantly changing alliances offer the same pleasure in watching morally ruthless characters try to outplay one another.

Out of Sight poster 03

Movie / 1998 / Comedy / Crime

Out of Sight

Why this pick

For the sophisticated crime plotting, simmering sexual chemistry, and dry wit: this is a more playful neo-noir, but similarly driven by charismatic adversaries testing each other’s control.

Devil in a Blue Dress poster 04

Movie / 1995 / Crime / Thriller / Drama

Devil in a Blue Dress

Why this pick

A richly shadowed noir with a patient investigative pull, ambiguous motives, and mounting danger. It shares The Last Seduction’s adult tone and distrustful view of everyone’s agenda.

A Simple Plan poster 05

Movie / 1998 / Crime / Thriller

A Simple Plan

Why this pick

Its ordinary setting becomes a pressure cooker of greed, betrayal, and dreadful choices. The steadily tightening moral suspense should suit the brutal cause-and-effect of The Last Seduction.

01 / THE STORY

A little about the film.

Bridget Gregory works as a telemarketing manager in New York City. Her husband, Clay, is Residency (medicine) and is heavily in debt to a loan shark, thus arranges to sell stolen pharmaceutical cocaine to two drug dealers. The transaction becomes tense when the buyers pull a gun, but to Clay's surprise, they eventually pay him $700,000. Clay is left shaken, and on his return home he slaps Bridget after she insults him. She then flees their apartment with the cash while he is in the shower.
