Why this pick
Like The Green Slime, it turns a space mission into an earnest, colorful monster emergency, with miniature-heavy spectacle and an infectiously straight-faced late-1960s sci-fi tone.
Why this pick
Its radioactive-looking fungal menace and studio-crafted creature imagery share Green Slime’s vivid fantasy-horror appeal, though the mood is more eerie and psychologically claustrophobic.
Why this pick
A compact space-horror expedition full of boldly artificial sets, hostile alien biology, and escalating B-movie hazards—well suited to Green Slime’s gleeful cosmic pulp.
Why this pick
It trades the orbital station for a suburban house, but delivers the same handmade one-eyed/tentacled-monster excitement and sincere affection for gooey creature-feature mayhem.
Why this pick
A similarly flamboyant Japanese sci-fi nightmare: striking color, invasive extraterrestrial horror, and a knowingly sensational atmosphere that embraces its bizarre premise.

01 / THE STORY
A group of astronauts set out to blow up the asteroid 8 Flora, which is now on a rapid collision course with the Earth. They land on the asteroid, plant explosive charges, and destroy it, barely escaping being destroyed by the explosion's massive shockwave. Afterwards, they return to the mission's staging area, space station Gamma 3, in high Earth orbit. Unfortunately, a scientist from the mission has unwittingly carried back a luminous-green substance on the leg of his spacesuit, which quickly mutates into one-eyed, tentacled monsters with the ability to discharge lethal bolts of electricity.
