Why this pick
Like The Front Line, it turns the Korean War into an intimate, devastating study of comradeship and fractured loyalty, balancing large-scale combat with the moral cost borne by ordinary soldiers.
Why this pick
Its border-zone investigation, shifting perspectives and tense bonds across enemy lines echo The Front Line’s interest in how ideology collides with personal connection and uncertain truth.
Why this pick
A rigorously physical war drama with a strong investigative undercurrent, it shares The Front Line’s muddy battlefield realism, loyalty among soldiers and anger at institutions that reduce lives to numbers.
Why this pick
Its stark monochrome imagery and morally complicated view of people trapped on opposite sides create the same grave, unsentimental atmosphere and human-scale intensity.
Why this pick
This austere, psychologically searching war film strips conflict down to fear, conscience and impossible choices—the same weighty moral pressure that gives The Front Line its force.

Jung-yoon declares to the prisoners that the war will be over in a week and that he knows exactly why they are fighting the war, before releasing the prisoners, so that they can help reconstruct the nation after the war.
