SIMILAR PICKS / A PERSONAL CONNECTION
01
Why this pick

02
Why this pick
Forman’s earlier feature has the same alert eye for provincial routines, embarrassed silences, and institutions that turn ordinary people into reluctant performers.
03
Why this pick
A busload of vivid strangers generates communal absurdity through deadpan timing and mounting frictions, offering the same blend of broad farce and unsettling social observation.
04
Why this pick
Another essential Czech New Wave satire, it preserves the era’s dry, unsentimental humour and its focus on how public conventions can become quietly cruel.
05
Why this pick
Much darker than Forman’s comedy, but its observational realism, procedural chaos, and mordantly comic portrait of institutions make it a potent companion piece.
