02
The Hallow
Why this pick
Matches Splinter's lean, creature-led siege tension: a hostile natural environment closes in on ordinary people, while practical-feeling menace and escalating panic drive the night.
03
Splintered
Why this pick
A similarly stripped-down wilderness horror built around a stranded group, mounting injuries, and a threatening presence that makes every attempt to escape feel dangerous.
04
The Bay
Why this pick
Its parasitic body-horror premise and escalating contamination echo Splinter's fear of infection, though it expands the threat into an unsettling faux-documentary outbreak.
05
It Stains the Sands Red
Why this pick
For Splinter's survivalist economy and adversarial character dynamic, this keeps the cast small and the danger relentless, turning a hostile landscape into a sustained endurance test.

01 / THE STORY
A little about the film.
When their plans for a nature trip go awry, Polly and boyfriend Seth decide to check into a motel. On their way, they're carjacked and kidnapped by low-rent crooks Dennis and Lacey, who take the victims and their SUV to a nearby gas station. Along the way, they encounter an increasingly terrifying horde of parasites, and if any of them intend to survive, they'll have to outsmart the deadly organisms.
