01
Why this pick
Like Side Effects, it builds sleek, tightly controlled suspense around an apparently clear-cut crime, then keeps reframing motives and evidence through sharp professional interrogations.

Why this pick
Its polished suburban surface, shifting female power dynamic, and escalating web of deception echo Side Effects' pleasure in making every confident assumption feel provisional.
03
Why this pick
A psychologically unstable perspective, missing pieces of memory, and a crime viewed through competing versions of events create similarly dark, intimate uncertainty.
04

Soderbergh again turns mental-health institutions into a claustrophobic paranoid thriller, using a brisk, unsettling style and uncertainty over whom to trust.

01 / THE STORY
After her husband Martin completes a four-year prison sentence for insider trading, Emily Taylor drives into a wall in an apparent suicide attempt. Jonathan Banks, her assigned psychiatrist, prescribes a series of antidepressants, but none work. Jonathan contacts Emily's previous psychiatrist, Victoria Siebert, who suggests an experimental new drug, Ablixa. The drug seems to help Emily, but gives her sleepwalking episodes as a side effect.
