Why this pick
Another elite boys’ school drama where privilege, academic competition, and an honor system expose the difference between polished reputation and real character.
Why this pick
Like School Ties, it builds gripping moral pressure around a scholarship student at a prestigious prep school facing an institutional test of loyalty and integrity.
Why this pick
Its austere 1950s boarding-school setting, tightly controlled social hierarchy, and clash between individual conscience and tradition closely echo School Ties’ atmosphere.
Why this pick
A darker, more confrontational boys’-school story focused on coercion, group cruelty, and one student’s refusal to surrender his identity under institutional pressure.
Why this pick
A wintry New England boarding-school setting and a sharp awareness of class divide give this a warmer but similarly perceptive view of outsiders inside privileged institutions.
