Why this pick
Like R-Point, it traps a wartime unit in a hostile enclosed location and lets exhaustion, trauma, and supernatural suggestion corrode trust before offering easy explanations.
Why this pick
Its WWII submarine setting creates the same pressure-cooker blend of military procedure, isolation, spectral menace, and mounting doubt about whether the threat is external or within the crew.
Why this pick
This harsh Afghanistan-set war film shares R-Point’s focus on a young unit stranded by command decisions, escalating dread, and the psychological toll of an incomprehensible conflict.
Why this pick
A military detachment occupying an ancient, ominous structure encounters a force it cannot understand; its stylized nocturnal atmosphere and historical-horror fusion echo R-Point’s haunted landscape.

01 / THE STORY
On 7 January 1972, the South Korean base in Nha-Trang, Vietnam, receives a radio transmission from a missing platoon that has been presumed dead. Headquarters assigns the veteran and decorated Lieutenant Choi Tae-in to lead a squad of eight soldiers to extract the missing soldiers from Romeo point (R-Point). When they arrive at the location, they engage and defeat a Vietnamese woman with a machine gun. They later find a tombstone saying that one hundred years ago, local Vietnamese were killed by the Chinese who disposed of them in a lake. A temple built over the site has become a sacred location to the Vietnamese. They find an immense, empty mansion where they set up their base. They have a week to find the missing soldiers but time is passing slowly when one of them dies in a horrible way and instead of finding answers, they encounter further mysteries.
