The Dinner
Why this pick
Like Perfect Strangers, a polished Italian chamber drama lets an intimate meal expose fault lines between affluent friends and family, shifting sharply from conviviality to moral pressure.

Carnage
Why this pick
Its real-time, single-apartment escalation has the same pleasure of watching polite social performance collapse into cutting revelations, alliances and darkly funny hostility.
03
The Invitation
Why this pick
A tense, elegantly controlled dinner-party mystery that shares the discomfort of old friends sensing that private histories and carefully managed appearances are not what they seem.
04
The Party
Why this pick
This brisk, black-and-white gathering similarly turns celebration into a compact comic-drama of confessions, betrayals and rapidly changing loyalties among a well-spoken circle.
05
Coherence
Why this pick
It begins with the same familiar dinner-party banter, then uses a lunar-night unease to make trust, identity and each guest’s hidden self increasingly unstable.

01 / THE STORY
A little about the film.
Seven long-time friends (three married couples and a divorcee) are having a dinner. They meet at one of the friend's home on the day of a lunar eclipse. They decide, as a playful game, to put each one's mobile phone on the table and reveal every text message or phone call they would receive that evening, to prove that nobody has anything to hide. Hilarity and drama ensue together as everyone's secrets are unveiled and the seven friends find themselves perfect strangers to each other.
