Why this pick
Like Los Punks, this is an intimate, community-first music documentary about a DIY scene built by young outsiders, with affection for the people and places sustaining it rather than a detached history-lesson approach.
02
Why this pick
Its close access to Los Angeles punk provides a raw, participant-level counterpart to Los Punks, prioritizing volatile performances, local identity, and the complicated lives behind the scene.
03
Why this pick
This DIY-made documentary similarly centers punk as a space for marginalized people to define themselves, connecting personal testimony, music, and a fiercely self-created community.
04
Why this pick
Jem Cohen’s tactile, handmade Fugazi film has the same unpolished proximity to live music and DIY ethics, observing a scene from within rather than packaging it as conventional rock nostalgia.
05
Why this pick
A more polished but emotionally open punk documentary, connecting music-scene identity to adulthood and responsibility while preserving the sense that punk remains a chosen family.
