Why this pick
Like Foxes, it follows volatile teenage girls pushing back against damaged homes and adult control, with a scruffy, music-charged urban energy and friendship at its emotional center.
Why this pick
A tender, unsentimental coming-of-age drama about young women navigating sex, family fractures, and limited horizons, with the same attention to everyday hurt beneath teenage bravado.
Why this pick
Its sunlit suburban setting and close focus on an adolescent girl's emerging sexuality echo Foxes, while its calm, intimate approach lets unease build without turning the character into a cliché.
Why this pick
This shares Foxes' frank interest in teen girls' friendships, sexual anxieties, and rivalries, balancing broad moments with a genuinely sympathetic view of girls testing who they are.
Why this pick
For Foxes' drifting, nocturnal youthfulness: an ensemble of teenagers wanders through one humid night of attraction, friendship, and uncertainty, observed with unusual patience and melancholy.
