In My Skin
Why this pick
Its cool, clinical descent into self-harm shares Excision’s fixation on the body, alienation, and the unnerving gap between a woman’s private impulses and public composure.
03
The Loved Ones
Why this pick
A candy-coloured nightmare of adolescent obsession and controlling family bonds, balancing pitch-black humour, heightened violence, and a progressively suffocating emotional atmosphere.
04
The Eyes of My Mother
Why this pick
For Excision’s dreamlike morbidity and unsettling domestic intimacy: stark monochrome imagery makes its damaged protagonist’s violent loneliness feel strangely mournful rather than merely shocking.
05
Helter Skelter
Why this pick
A visually extravagant psychological spiral about beauty, identity, and self-destruction; its saturated artificiality and ferocious female performance echo Excision’s heightened inner world.
