Why this pick
Dennis Hopper’s fractured follow-up shares Easy Rider’s countercultural disillusionment and bold, hallucinatory editing, turning the search for freedom into something stranger and more self-questioning.
Why this pick
A near-wordless flight across the American West, driven by speed, alienation, and widescreen landscapes; it carries the same rebellious road-movie charge with a more relentless momentum.
Why this pick
Like Easy Rider, it captures an America divided by class and values, centered on a volatile wanderer whose refusal to belong gives the film its raw, uneasy force.

01 / THE STORY
Wyatt and Billy are freewheeling motorcyclists. After smuggling cocaine from Mexico to Los Angeles, California, they sell their haul and receive a large sum of money. With the cash stuffed into a plastic tube hidden inside the Stars & Stripes-painted fuel tank of Wyatt's California-style chopper (motorcycle), they ride eastward aiming to reach New Orleans, Louisiana, in time for the New Orleans Mardi Gras festival.
