Why this pick
Guadagnino again turns an Italian summer into tactile cinema: languid heat, erotic undercurrents, beautiful bodies and simmering emotional volatility, though with a sharper, more unsettling edge.
Why this pick
Its intimate triangle of young intellectuals has the same sensuous, literary atmosphere and charged coming-of-age desire, unfolding through languid conversations, art and enclosed summer-like reverie.
Why this pick
A deeply felt queer romance shaped by class, repression and memory. Like Elio and Oliver’s connection, its emotional force comes from yearning, restraint and moments that linger long after separation.
Why this pick
A guarded young man is changed by an intense seasonal relationship. It trades Lombardy’s refinement for Yorkshire’s harsh physicality, but shares the patient observation and transformative tenderness.
Why this pick
A precisely observed romance where glances, art and landscape carry as much feeling as dialogue. Its measured pace and radiant visual control make desire feel both immediate and remembered.
