Why this pick
Its documentary-like immediacy, procedural focus and morally unsparing view of urban political violence closely echo Black Friday’s forensic, multi-perspective intensity.
Why this pick
A rigorously period-textured political drama that turns real history into tense, granular observation, with the same preference for systems, institutions and collective consequence over easy heroics.
Why this pick
This sprawling, fact-rooted account follows radicalisation, state response and escalating violence with the urgent, ensemble-driven sweep that makes Black Friday so absorbing.
Why this pick
A compact Mumbai-set thriller shaped by terrorism, policing and public unease; it shares Black Friday’s grounded civic tension while taking a more tightly contained dramatic form.
Why this pick
Its stripped-back, real-time-feeling reconstruction builds tension through procedure, fragmented viewpoints and restrained performances rather than sensationalising a real tragedy.
