Why this pick
Like A Summer in La Goulette, this Tunisian drama uses memory, music and intimate domestic spaces to examine women’s lives and a society poised between inherited customs and change.
Why this pick
A tender, culturally alert coming-of-age romance with the same interest in Tunisian-rooted identity, youthful desire and the push-pull between family expectations and personal freedom.
Why this pick
Its gentle humour and understated warmth find unexpected connections across Arab and Jewish lives, echoing La Goulette’s affection for everyday coexistence rather than grand declarations.
Why this pick
A sunlit, ensemble-driven portrait of female friendship, family obligations and romantic hopes; it carries a similarly generous comic touch while letting social constraints remain visible.
Why this pick
This lively communal fable balances humour, music and tension as women protect a fragile multi-faith village, making it a natural match for La Goulette’s pluralistic warmth.
