Why this pick
Like A Little Bit of Heaven, it meets grave illness with irreverent humour and warmth, while letting an unlikely connection gradually deepen into something emotionally sincere.
Why this pick
Its candid, joke-filled approach to a devastating diagnosis closely matches the blend of gallows humour, friendship and hesitant romance that defines A Little Bit of Heaven.
Why this pick
A sharp romantic comedy whose medical crisis tests a new relationship, balancing frank adult humour with supportive friends and an earned emotional payoff.
Why this pick
For the intimate side of A Little Bit of Heaven: a terminal diagnosis is handled with dry humour, everyday companionship and a deeply compassionate focus on choosing how to live.
Why this pick
It shares the transformative romance and terminal-illness premise, though with a more earnest, gentle tone than the breezy comedy of A Little Bit of Heaven.

01 / THE STORY
Marley Corbett is a quickwitted, care-free ad executive living in New Orleans, who embraces her easy going attitude, shuns any major responsibilities, and gains support and strength from a close circle of friends. She also enjoys casual dating and refuses to fall in love. Marley's close friend notices that she looks drained. After an appointment, Marley is told by Dr. Julian Goldstein that she has terminal cancer. He is deeply impressed by the way Marley accepts the news with humour and dignity. While under anesthetic, God appears to Marley in heaven and asks her to make three wishes. She chooses to fly, to win a million dollars (not tax free), and a third that is later revealed.
